There’s a chill in the air, typical August weather in Northern California, and it’s alright with me because it means I can wear my high-waisted vintage wool plaid pants a little early.  I wore them tonight with a black short sleeve turtleneck knit top and some red paten leather Nine West heels and my go-to sparkly black clutch from Gap.  It was the perfect look for the 7×7 Fashion Issue Launch Party at Neiman Marcus in the city!

A friend of mine told me yesterday that she would love one day with access to my closet, I love this!  I started thinking about my little closet in the Lito and all of my very favorite things.  If you are like me you wear some of the same things over and over.  Like, my go-to white pique cotton dress perfect for Napa, baby showers…brunch, and my collection of shorts, skirts and jeans.  And, I have more sandals than three girls could wear in all of their lifetimes.  Add to that drawers and drawers full of accessories and bags for days.

Here is my short list of things I cannot live without and that I wear on a regular basis…and to prove to my friend Karen that she too can have a (Summer) closet like mine with just a few things: a basic white dress, a pair of white shorts, a short grey skirt, a great pair of skinny jeans.  Something with suede fringe (I have a bag from Brandy Melville), something with sparkle (I have a bag and clutch from Gap), a neutral scarf and a go-to sweater (I have a khaki 3-quarter length sleeve cardigan from Urban Outfitters), something pink (I have a vintage silk clutch that I wear with everything), colorful sandals, and some basic ones too.  Some simple, memorable accessories that are versatile, like my Noonday bracelet.

Start with a short list of things you really, really love and build on this!

I’ve been waking up to gloomy mornings in Sausalito lately…it’s time for “June Gloom” only we had a beautiful June so the gloom is a little late this year.  I rolled out of bed this morning and headed to my daily coffee spot in this gloom-inspired outfit.  No time for fancy hair, it was a messy bun day.  My favorite Jeffery Campbell booties from last year that I don’t have to save for the Fall living in the Bay Area.  Gap Artist Edition “My Resting Place” tee and matching Urban Outfitters skirt.  Go-to stripe wrap cardigan from Forever 21.

Love this Hotcakes Design Studio ring that I crushed on in my post on June 29th, it was a birthday present from my friend Mo and matches everything!  And I’m still madly in-love with this Sequoia bag that I brought back with me the last time I visited Paris.
