Today I finished work early and popped over to the De Young for a very late lunch and to check out the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit the town is buzzing about.  I’ve been in-love with Gaultier for a long time, his out-of-the-box, stretch-the-limits fashion antics caught my eye in college when I dabbled in design and thought I wanted to be in the fashion industry.

The exhibit did not disappoint.  The fashion is just one piece of a multi-media installation that has Gaultier written all over it…models are talking, singing, humming, blinking…so alive that it’s almost eery.  So Gaultier!  Here are a few photos I snapped using Instagram, of the things that caught my eye…

I was mesmerized by the creative use of fabrics, unusual materials and texture.  And I was in-awe of the beautiful silhouettes and the racy-ness of his designs.  All in all I was incredibly inspired, and I plan to go back with several friends before the exhibit makes its way to the next city.  The two take-aways from my first visit are the doubled up fishnets seen in this photo which I put on my list to try ASAP…

And, I grabbed a big supply of these oversized postcards because I loved the image of these models backstage at a Gaultier fashion show and I’m planning on using the cards for a party invitation sometime very soon…

I’m newly in-love with succulents!  My thumb is a pale shade of green; I fall madly in-love with many water-loving, sunlight-thriving creatures and some of them don’t make it very long in my care.  Succulents on the other-hand love to be left alone.  They are strong, independent, beautiful creatures — perfect for my pad in the Lito!

I took a quick pic of these cute little bud vase arrangements at Batter Bakery on Polk today, I love these for little nightstand arrangements or coffee table pick-ups, and they are perfect for each guest’s place setting at a wedding or party!

These succulents terrariums I shot at my friend Sandra’s house when I made a quick stop on my bike.  She promises to show me how easy it is to do this!

We took a step back in time today when we walked into Sherman’s Kosher-Style Deli in Palm Springs.  The deli came highly recommended and once I learned that sandwiches were served with a side of big dill pickles and sauerkraut I was in, in, IN!

There’s something about real Kosher dill pickles and pastrami piled high on rye that just makes you so, so happy!  Sherman’s did not disappoint but you definitely need to make time to nap afterwards!

My home away from home in Palm Springs the last two trips has been the Riviera Resort & Spa which I adore.  The Hollywood Regency decor is something I crush on over and over each time I visit.  What’s Hollywood Regency?  Shag, glass, mirror, velvet…pretty much all of the things I swoon over regularly.

Here are a few shots from the lobby of details I love…

And this is quintessential Riviera, Hollywood Regency decor…

Come in really close, I have a secret to tell you…I’m Jonathan Adler’s girlfriend!  It’s such a big secret that he doesn’t even know.  I feel like with the amount of time I spend “stalking” him, pouring through his Musings blog and adoring (by snapping a hideous amount of photos of everything Adler) everything he touches that I SHOULD be his girlfriend.  At the very least I should be considered one of his biggest fans.

The list of Adler things I crush on is never-ending but today, in Palm Springs, I am crushing, swooning, and madly, madly, madly in-love with the mirror hanging outside of Norma’s at Parker.  (One of my most favorite places to stop AND stay in Palm Springs! And not just because the entire hotel is designed by my BF…)

I’m on an obsessed, crazy woman, mad hunt for a mirror like this for above my fireplace in the Lito.  Like many things at the Parker this mirror is vintage, 1972 to be exact.  I’m even considering making something similar myself…or just asking my BF if I can have this one…

From the moment I first stepped foot in the Palm Springs desert I was madly, crazily, in-love with everything Palm Springs!  And I mean, EVERYTHING.  I’ve been happily making monthly trips to this small, desert get-away since last July and each time I go I bring some inspiration home with me.

Today I wandered in and out of many shops located in the design district of Palm Springs.  I found a great group of shops with a common garden area.  Succulents, pots, shells…so much inspiration for my balcony garden in Sausalito!
